This was a very uncomfortable read. I think directly linking murderous impulses to gender dysphoria like this is a dangerous game even in fiction because there are too many folks out there that want it to be true. There's a reason the other author probably could not bring themselves to tackle this idea so directly as you have. I liked the little side story of the boy with the berries though, that boy was basically me growing up and it made me feel very seen.

This tale... damn.

One of the many things I love about your writing is your ruthless commitment to the air-gapped, faraday-caged, EMP-hardened nature of fiction as a laboratory for moral and psychological experimentation. An edgy playfulness more hair-raising and sphincter-tightening than any single-sentence book or imitation of a mid-century middle-European eccentric could ever hope to be.
