Hello friend, thank you so much for being a paid subscriber of Woman of Letters. This is a message that's going out just to the ninety-two of you. Sometimes I write things that’re a bit too personal for the main feed, and I thought a paid post would be a good home for two of those pieces.

The state of the blog

This Substack has gained a lot of subscribers in the last three months. On June 16th of this year, it had 750 subscribers. As of today, it has over 1750. Six hundred of those subscribers came in the last month alone.

I don't really know what to make of that. Although some of the increase has come because of Great Books posts (posts on Hinduism and Gandhi were relatively popular), by far the biggest part has come from a series of posts critical of the contemporary literary world.
