LOL. Nobody should feel insecure about acting like a big shot writer while living w their parents. Literally the story of many, many well-known writers
I remain steadfast in my initial evaluation, that Darren needs a real job. In fact, I would add to what I said earlier: not only would his writing improve, he would enjoy it more too.
Retconning is ok. I changed the title of my novel over a year after I published it. I felt like it was okay, in this case -- it's only been self-published on a website (no physical copies), and only three people in the world have read it. Seemed more like changing "Revenge of the Jedi" to "Return" before the movie came out than retconning Star Wars to make Han shoot second. ^_^
(Three people that I know of, at least; I have a handful of subscribers and followers, but have no idea why. I rarely post anything but comments on substack.)
Enjoyed this Naomi, but once they had a child with all its attendant pressures and parenting competition ...I'm thinking no way the relationship doesn't fail in some way.
feeling kind of called out by Darren tbh

Now you're trying to tell me that being married to a doctor isn't a real job?
Love this, and relate to Darren more than I'd like to admit... plus, thanks for the shout-out <3
Darren is all of us!

Women will put up with a lot if they think they're married to a genius.

Do you know the Fitzgerald essay, How to live on $35,000 a year?
No! Have never read that one, but seems up my alley.
